The purpose of
Dickson First’s Children’s Ministry is to provide a safe place for
children to learn the Bible, develop a relationship with God, and
practice worshiping the Lord.
Sunday school – Our classes are currently
studying a Cokesbury curriculum.
We are divided into four groups which include: 3 -5 year
olds, K-1st grade, 2nd-3rd grade, & 4th&5th
grade. Classes begin at 9:30am and meet on the 3rd floor.
Nursery – The nursery program provides
childcare for children ages 0 – 2 years of age.
It is offered during the 8:15am early worship service, the
9:30am Sunday school hour, and the 10:30am second worship service.
The nursery is located next to the sanctuary.
Wee Worship – This program is offered during
the 10:30am worship service. Children must be potty trained before
attending this class. It
provides childcare for children 3-5 years of age.
It consists of age appropriate Bible studies, art & crafts,
and games. The class is
located on the 3rd floor.
– Kid’s JAM is an optional program for children to attend during the
10:30am worship service.
The program is recommended for ages 6-9 years old.
It is designed to be an age appropriate children’s worship
service including music, prayer, and lesson.
JAM stands for Jesus and Me.
Acolytes – Children have the opportunity to
assist the pastor in worship by lighting candles, collecting
tithing, and serving communion.
The children volunteers rotate through these roles on a
– Special events include
Vacation Bible School,
Trunk or Treat, Family Fun Nights, Easter Egg Hunt, and Children’s Sabbath.
First United Methodist follows a Safe Sanctuary policy that is
designed to protect children and youth in the church.
Children must be dropped off and picked up from their classes
by a parent or guardian.
