The purpose of Dickson First’s Children’s Ministry is to provide a safe place for children to learn the Bible, develop a relationship with God, and practice worshiping the Lord.

Weekly Programs:

Sunday school – Our classes are currently studying a Cokesbury curriculum.  We are divided into four groups which include: 3 -5 year olds, K-1st grade, 2nd-3rd grade, & 4th&5th grade. Classes begin at 9:30am and meet on the 3rd floor.

Nursery – The nursery program provides childcare for children ages 0 – 2 years of age.  It is offered during the 8:15am early worship service, the 9:30am Sunday school hour, and the 10:30am second worship service.  The nursery is located next to the sanctuary.

Wee Worship – This program is offered during the 10:30am worship service. Children must be potty trained before attending this class.  It provides childcare for children 3-5 years of age.  It consists of age appropriate Bible studies, art & crafts, and games.  The class is located on the 3rd floor.

Kid’s JAM Kid’s JAM is an optional program for children to attend during the 10:30am worship service.   The program is recommended for ages 6-9 years old.  It is designed to be an age appropriate children’s worship service including music, prayer, and lesson.  Kid’s JAM stands for Jesus and Me.

Acolytes – Children have the opportunity to assist the pastor in worship by lighting candles, collecting tithing, and serving communion.  The children volunteers rotate through these roles on a weekly basis

Special Events Special events include Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, Family Fun Nights, Easter Egg Hunt, and Children’s Sabbath.

Dickson First United Methodist follows a Safe Sanctuary policy that is designed to protect children and youth in the church.  Children must be dropped off and picked up from their classes by a parent or guardian.
